Alternative/Interim Life Safety Measures 101 provides an overview of life safety deficiencies and the codes and standards related to life safety systems. Course materials identify potential deficiencies by system and possible interim life safety measures to compensate for them. Through real-world scenarios, participants will practice applying the standard ALSM/ILSM risk assessment process and discuss how to respond appropriately when a potential life safety deficiency is detected and if an interim life safety plan is implemented.
Learning Objectives:
- Define alternative/interim life safety measures (ALSM/ILSM), describe their purpose, and list the building systems to which they apply
- Describe the standard protocols to immediately follow when life safety deficiencies are detected and confirmed
- Discuss and demonstrate the standard Novant Health ALSM/ILSM assessment process
- List response measures that might occur when life safety deficiencies occur
